It was quite an interesting conversation since I have been curious why people have religion. To be honest, I have been suspicious the reason behind belief that was attributed to life after death. I have noticed time to time that people tend to believe their spirit or mind, whatever they may call, is immortal and never been vanished after death. In order to be formalized with this story, they have build own myth to justify what they are thinking and talking. And it is still an option to choose from whenever people are in doubt or trouble.
I was asked directly that "If you don't believe in God, what would you going to be after death?" I simply replied that "Well, I shall be no longer existed in a physical sense as well as a spiritual one." "And I am going to be decomposed into a few tiny chemical substances." 'What I had before including consciousness plus spirits - if there were any of them - will be evaporated into the air." I was interupted abruptly that "If you are wrong with what you think, you will stay in 'the unpleasant place' for the rest of your time after death." "Are you sure you are not afraid of that ?" And I silently answered that "Of course, I'm afraid much but I don't believe in immortality of spirits. And I decided to believe in that way."
I was a little surprised to see the empirical example in relation to the publicity to the death and the religion which vaguely identified lately. And I appreciated the sincere honesty that I had been exposed to.
